Who Can Apply

Effective July 9, 2004, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg only accepts non-immigrant visa (NIV) applications from persons resident or employed in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.  This limitation is necessitated by a temporary shortage of consular personnel.  The Embassy will continue to accept NIV applications from Luxembourg citizens regardless of their current place of residence.  Applicants must present any one of the following:

  • Luxembourg passport
    or
  • Luxembourg residency permit (carte de séjour)
    or
  • Valid Luxembourg employment contract (for residents of nearby France, Germany and Belgium)

Applicants who do not live or work in the Grand Duchy should submit their applications to the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate, such as Brussels, Paris or Frankfurt.
