Passport photograph specifications

When renewing or applying for a passport, it is important to submit the correct photograph with your application.

- one photograph is sufficient

- the photograph must be recent, not older than 6 months

- U.S. format: 2x2 inches square (5x5cm) with the head centered in the photo

- the head measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the hair should be between 1 inch and 1-3/8 inches (30mm-35mm)

- full face, eyes open, eyeglasses should be worn if normally used

- in color against a white or clear background

- printed without borders on photo quality paper

Polaroid or vending machine prints are not accepted. Submitting an incorrect photograph can delay processing of your passport application.
