Important notice-revised passport regulations for minors

Effective February 1, 2008, both parents or legal guardians must sign the passport application for all minor children under 16 at the Embassy. If one parent is not able to come in person, please use the statement of consent form DS-3053 on http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/80106.pdf (it must be notarized). The child must also be present.

Passports

For the most current information on passports, please consult the passport pages of the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs web site at travel.state.gov, including forms, fees and required documentation.

Passports may be obtained for the first time, replaced when lost, stolen or damaged, or renewed at the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg.  Go To CONSULAR SECTION NEWS to see the Consular Section opening hours for U.S. citizen services such as passports.

In almost all cases, passports are no longer produced overseas, but at a central processing point in the United States.  Please allow at least seven days after application is approved before the passport will be ready to pick up at the Embassy to avoid unnecessary complications in your travel plans.

See the links at left for more information on passports.

Important Note

All local passport applications, including renewals, must be submitted to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg.  Applications from American citizens living abroad, mailed directly to the United States, will not be processed.

Please be aware that Embassy Luxembourg does not accept passport applications from Active Duty Military members and dependents that are stationed in Germany. According to USAEUR regulations 600-290 (army) and 30-4 (air force) they must apply on the base.
